Economic Feasibility of Mixed-Species Grazing to Improve Rangeland Productivity

چکیده
Pasture and grazing land in the southern central Great Plains is being invaded by woody species, especially eastern redcedar. As a result of plant encroachment, cattle production on native rangeland becoming less profitable because stocking rates must be decreased. Eastern redcedar encroachment can controlled management, herbicide use, prescribed fire, mechanical control mixed species grazing. This study utilizes traditional management practices, fire three types operations to determine most economically feasible way manage rangeland. The cost-benefit analysis this found that source with highest net present value was use breeding goat operation which goats were grazed alongside fire. suggests producers who are fighting will likely able implement better their increase returns.

Sustainable Rangeland Grazing in Norse Faroe
The introduction of domestic livestock particularly sheep and rangeland grazing by Norse settlers to Faroe during the 9th century has generally been described as a major pressure on a sensitive landscape, leading to rapid and widespread vegetation change and contributing to land degradation. This view has, however, been developed without consideration of Norse grazing management practices which...

Improving productivity in emergency services and managing limited resources of emergency room(ER) are key challenges for health managers of oil industry. One critical and costly resource is ER personnel and its lack can lead to long queue of patients. Thus appropriate scheduling for nurses and physicians can help ER managers to get maximum benefit of their current human resource and reduce th...

Grazing behavior exhibited by different biological types (breed groups) of lactating beef cows was evaluated during the summers of 1985 (Trial 1) and 1986 (Trial 2). Animals grazed native Montana foothill grassland. In Trial 1, breed groups consisted of Hereford (HH), 50% Angus-50% Hereford (AH), 50% Simmental-50% Hereford (SH), and 75% Simmental-25% Hereford (3S1H) with six cows per breed grou...

The objective of this study was to determine nursing calf forage intake prior to weaning in the Nebraska Sandhills range. Eight crossbred cow-calf pairs in year one and 12 pairs in year two were selected for each trial. Pairs were randomly assigned to one of two rotation groups, pasture (Graze) or individual fed dry lot pens for each pair (Pen). Pen pairs were fed harvested meadow hay of simila...
